Combo Cocktail and Food History Tour

By Doctor Gumbo Tours (other events)

74 Dates Through Mar 08, 2016

ABOUT ABOUT

Combining both the Food History and Cocktail History tours, and only available twice a week, this event is a feast for the senses!

Along with your guide Doctor Gumbo you will visit 8 locations: classic Creole restaurants, craft cocktail lounges, neighborhood sandwich shops, pre-Civil War bars, artisanal candy stores and more.

Once inside you’ll sample 8 different dishes and 4 full-sized drinks that represent the breadth and diversity of our culinary and cocktail heritage: dishes like gumbo, beef brisket, muffulettas, pralines ... and cocktails like the Sazerac, French 75, Vieux Carré and more!

We discuss New Orleans’ various restaurant family dynasties, we discuss recipes old and new, we visit restaurants that pre-date the American Civil War, we recommend places to eat and places to shop.

We belly up to the oldest stand-up bar in the city, find out where the Grasshopper was invented, get the real scoop on absinthe, learn the origins of the Sazerac and discover hidden gems where locals have been imbibing for centuries.

And with so many dining and drinking options in New Orleans, why not try 7 different places in one fell swoop?!

Price includes: 8 Louisiana dishes, 4 full-sized cocktails, tour with local guide.
